PEACE

I was going through my morning devotionals, “The UCB Word for Today”, and I came across a topic that really touched my heart and brought order to my daily life. I’d like to share the Topic of peace with you. Peace is the state of calmness, freedom and tranquillity we receive by constantly dwelling in God’s presence. The freedom from the turbulences of life, comes when we have the peace of God in us. This doesn’t mean, there will be no trials, it simply means that even in the storm and chaos, you can still have it together on the inside.

Peace stems from having faith in the power of God, and having confidence that He is faithful. Where there is peace, fear disappears. Peace brings to confirmation the Lords promise in Isaiah 43:2 “when you pass through the waters I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” when you are at peace, you see things clearly because peace draws a line of demarcation between you and all the things the devil throws at you, so that you are able to listen to just one voice – Gods voice.

It is only when you have peace within that you can extend that peace to others. Yes, peace is contagious! Have you ever experienced being with someone after a very tough day, and they just rub off their peace on you? You start to feel better by just being with them. That is what God has called us to be – Ambassadors of peace. That is why we are instructed in Romans 12: 18 to live in peace with all men(everyone).

A PRAYER FOR PEACE.

Lord, your word says “thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusted in thee. Your word says “peace I leave with you; my peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27). Your word says, “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4.7). Today, bless me with peace. Let Your peace which transcends all understanding settle my nerves and calm my mind. And amid all trails, help me focus on Your goodness, Your faithfulness, Your healing power, Your overflowing resources, and Your forgiving heart. Take up residence in me and fill me with Your peace. Show me what is rubbing me off it. I really want to know, Father so I can be specific in what I need to confess, what I need to commit to and what I need to change. Teach me the secret of lasting peace. I give all my concerns to You, trusting You to work them out for my good and Your glory. I thank you now for whatever it will take to help me receive the peace, You have so generously offered me. Amen!
